All our programs focus on prevention, aiming to minimize the probability of teen pregnancy, high school dropout, juvenile delinquency, substance abuse, child abuse, and childhood obesity. However, youth prevention works with youth who may have had some involvement within the areas listed above or who are at risk of involvement. The program offers counseling, workshops, and group discussions that aim to educate and reduce recidivism for youth enrolled in the program. We also provide support services by helping the youth navigate through the various systems (school system, juvenile justice, court, child welfare, and health agencies) to understand their responsibility and options.
This program works with youth (ages 13-23) to help them become educated and prepared for the workforce by providing training, internships and scholarships. The major focus is on the mental, emotional, social, cultural, and attitude preparation needed to be successful in the workforce. We will also assist youth in identifying possible career fields based on their personality and interest. The youth create a career plan and work with a program specialist to accomplish each step of their plan. Once a student is employed, we will provide support as needed, working with their employers to address any issues or training needed for them to maintain employment.
This program will provide training and activities focusing on character development aiming to prevent juvenile delinquency, substance abuse and to improve educational outcomes. With the help of this program, at-risk youth are taught how to develop positive character traits and acquire valuable life skills that reduce their negative involvement with the criminal justice system. Through training and practical application activities, we will enhance students’ skills in five areas of human development: Physical (activities that promote health and wellness); Intellectual (activities related to literacy through game play); Social (activities pertaining to social interaction and team building); Emotional (effective emotion regulation strategies); and Moral Behavior (activities related to journaling and icebreaking).
