ABOUT US

Mission Statement

Joshua's Way of Hope mission is to reduce generational recidivism in economic poverty, health disparities, involvement in the criminal justice, and child welfare systems through the coordination of programs, counseling, and training.

Our Goals

Our goal is to minimize the effects of social issues and barriers that affect our youth's ability to become healthy emotionally, educationally, physically, and financially to emerge self-sufficient adults. Our hope is to provide youth with the self-esteem, knowledge, motivation, and drive necessary to seize life's opportunities.

Founder's Why behind Joshua‘s Way of Hope

I created Joshua's Way of Hope in honor of my son Joshua Nichol‘s life and to preserve his legacy. The promising life of Joshua was suddenly ended by a car accident on Mother's Day in 2019.

My son and I often discussed his dreams of creating a nonprofit. The purpose and focus of the nonprofit would be to give back to help the kids in his community because his community and his village had provided so much support to him throughout his formative years, all the way through his graduation from college. He was a participant in numerous community programs like the Boys and Girls Club, the City of Tampa Parks and Recreation; Phi Beta Sigma Tampa Alumni Chapter Sigma Beta Club; FIU Lambda Tau Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated; and the public schools in Hillsborough County where he attended. They all played a role in developing his character and were instrumental to his life and his success. Joshua was always determined and a high achiever whenever he decided on a goal. He graduated from Middleton High School in the top 5% of his class.

He graduated from Florida International University (FIU) with two degrees in Business Finance and I.T., all within four years. After his graduation, he landed his dream job working for Microsoft Corporation as a Premier Field Engineer. As a parent, I understand the importance of having a good support system in raising your children and how it can be the key to their success. Joshua Way of Hope's vision is to become that extended support system and become a part of the village to the children and families we serve.

MEET OUR TEAM

I understand firsthand the impact organizations, such as Joshua Way of Hope, can have on disadvantage youth. I wouldn’t be in the position I am today had others not volunteered in my community. It’s now my time to give back."

Kayetrenia Nichols

Celeste Mona Judge

Successful Business Owner: Total Image Beauty Salon

"I represent the 3rd generation of women in the beauty industry. My grandmother, Essie Mae Wynn, was the first licensed African-American female barber in Tampa. I knew at an early age that I would enter the beauty industry.

I have enjoyed a prolific career as a Hair Designer and have won many hair styling competitions. I have been in the field for more than 40 years, and I am grateful for choosing a career that I love while at the same time a career that provides financial stability for my family. I am the proud owner of Total Image Hair Salon, which was started by my mother, Mae Alice Judge, in August 1978. I am a strong proponent of Vocational training as I know the positive financial impact that having an invaluable skill set can make."
